Meet The Team

This is Carys, she is the Director, Presenter and Sound Engineer behind 'Our Social Mind'.

I play the role of Director, Presenter and Sound Engineer. I primarily wanted to be the Director because the subject is something I am extremely passionate about and I wanted to be able to take control of something as this is a brand new experience for me. Additionally, being the presenter meant I could grow in confidence and it is something I wish to endure in the near future. Finally, being a Sound Engineer is something I feel i'm good at, it isn't my most enjoyed role, although my knowledge for sound has increased which will be great for the outside world of work.

During my time working on 'Our Social Mind' i've definitely learnt that time is everything and to always back up anything you have... twice! Besides this, it has taught me teamwork and friendship in one and has shown me how incredibly organised I am and can be in certain situations. The overall experience has been challenging but a lot of fun and I wouldn't pass the opportunity to work on something like this again.

This is Ethan, he is the Editor and Cinematographer behind this documentary.

"My main reason for wanting to work as cinematographer and editor is my love for visual storytelling, i find that by having control of these areas i am able to bring the directors vision to life in the best way possible.

I've learnt a great deal during this project, one thing in particular that I've learnt is that a plan is crucial, without one there is no structure.

I've also learnt that working with less is sometimes more valuable than trying to throw yourself in the deep end not knowing what you're doing, sometimes keeping it simple is all that is needed."

This is Ben, he is our Producer, Gaffer and Writer for our documentary.

"The role I wanted to do, primarily, was writing. In my personal time I focus a lot on creating sketches and short film scripts based around various scenarios that inspire an idea within me. When this opportunity came around to work on this project I was excited by the unique idea to create a script for this documentary.

I’ve been told that my composure and communication skills bode well for the producer role, it is this feedback from lecturers that influenced our groups decision to give me this role. Whilst it’s not something I’ve ever thought about doing it. Being in this role has given me an opportunity to really dig deep and control specifically how this project grows, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. "
